The Saints - Monkey Puzzle

The album was recorded at EMI studios 301 Sydney Australia 1981
Engineered and mixed by Gerry Nixon
Produced by Chris Bailey and Gerry Nixon

The Saints were an Australian rock band, formed in Brisbane in 1974. They are considered to be one of the first and most influential punk groups. By 1975, contemporaneous with the Ramones, The Saints were employing the fast tempos, raucous vocals and "buzzsaw" guitar that characterised early punk rock. With their first single "(I'm) Stranded", in late 1976, they released a record ahead of better-known punk acts like the Sex Pistols and The Clash. Bob Geldof has been quoted as saying, "Rock music in the Seventies was changed by three bands — the Sex Pistols, the Ramones and The Saints"

I can still remember seeing these guys play at the Caxton Hall in Red Hill, Brisbane in the 70's.... I'm feeling old, shit happens. To be honest I never liked 'I'm Stranded' I was more of a mod at the time. But the n came 'Eternally Yours' and the magnificent 'Prehistoric Sounds' A gig at Easts Leagues club 81 or 82 sticks in my mind. By this time The Saints were Mr Bailey and others. Monkey Puzzle had players Chris brought back from Europe and they were unbelievable tight and committed.

Chris Bailey, vocals, guitar Barrington Francis, guitar Janine Hall, bass Mark Birmingham, drums This album seems a little over looked and neglected. most reference sites on The Saints don't even list it. 'Miss Wonderful' 'Always', 'Lets Pretend' bring back many good memories.
